CJ - Live City, Seoul
A Creative Playground
BCGDV consulted CJ, a South Korean corporation shape its mission, vision, and design principles for the CJ-LIVE CITY complex in Seoul.
CJ-LIVE CITY is a creative future city divided by a river, CJ’s vision was to provide Seoul with a playground to unlock its creativity and innovation. With Seoul’s largest arena, CJ media production district, collaboration labs, and an entertainment area, all open for everyone to interact.
This project was unique because of its scale, cross-discipline, and international setup. We operated under design thinking, lean, and sprint methodology.
I was assigned by BCGDV Japan, as a freelance consultant and Art Director.
My role was to define the design principles and visual presentation of the project. I successfully implemented a sustainability strategy and concept visualization. The Creative City is currently being built with estimated completion in 2024. Map Illustrations below by Ahla Kwon. I am not able to share further project details at this point.

Some early sketches
This project made us as a team reflect on essential human behavior, needs, and goals. Such as “what is creativity and how ideas are triggered” it took many sketches, interviews, researches, and ideas before we could distill and zoom out to shape the big picture. Here are a few early sketches.
